FAQs

Product Information

How are your products made?

Each piece is handmade with love and care in our San Diego home studio. Using traditional Japanese washi paper, the origami designs are carefully folded and sealed with a water-resistant glaze to ensure they stay beautiful and flexible.

What materials are used to make your jewelry?

Besides washi paper, we use a selection of metal components and a combination of gemstones and glass.

Our earring posts are made from gold-plated sterling silver or stainless steel, depending on the design. All metals that touch the skin are hypoallergenic. Further information can be found in the “Materials” section under each item description.

Why does my origami look different from the picture?

Due to its handmade nature, there may be variations in the origami pieces, and items may not look identical to the photos in the online shop. Each piece is unique.

How should I care for my origami jewelry?

It’s best to keep your jewelry in a cool and dry place and remove before sleeping, showering or exercising.

Sprays and creams including soap, perfume, moisturizer and sunscreen can cause damage to some metal components, so it’s best to remove your jewelry before using any of these products.

Will my gold-plated sterling silver tarnish?

Gold-plating will eventually wear down to the metal underneath (sterling silver) and discolor. This will happen naturally with wear. The speed at which this occurs depends on the thickness of the gold-plating, the amount of wear, and the conditions it is kept in.

Do you do custom designs?

We consider custom design requests on a case-by-case basis. Please contact support@kamyi.art for custom order inquiries, and we will do our best to accommodate your request for colors or designs. Please note that custom items may take longer to ship and do not allow returns or exchanges.
